I Saw and Liked

So this week has been my first week interning at Bodouir PR and i've been emmbarking on a fairly long journey travelling in by coach from Oxford. I use my time each morning to sleep and take in the surroundings as we drive through London. Yesterday I spotted a couple of adverts which I thought were great, both witty and clever:

The first is the 'kiss my glass' ad by Renault, I just think the whole concept is clever especially in England where people are put off buying convertables because of the weather, but this markets the appeal of a glass roof perfectly.

The second ad is for Morgans Spiced Rum, I spotted it at Baker Street tube station but failed to get a picture quick enough, and I couldn't find one on the net so im guessing it's a fairly new ad. The advert reads 'Cokes perfect wingman' again witty and clever. It's a powerful advert and also it's positioning all the way along one side of the wall up the escalator. It made me smile to myself and i'm curious to try it now. Will try and get a pic monday it's worth seeing.

I also spotted this in Wheatley (Oxford) no real relevance but it made me smile.

Quite Simply Boudoir

I can't believe how quickly this summer is going my plan was to loose 7lb and have a nice sum to take to uni in october needless to say I havn't completed either infact i've probably gained 7lb and my account is almost negative. But this aside it is now time for me to embark on my latest internship at Boudoir PR.

Based in Soho, London i'll be making a 4 hour round trip everyday which I am not looking forward to but luckily I have Ebony with me to keep me company although a 5.30am get up won't make me much company. I've always been interested in PR and can't wait to see what it entails. Check out the Boudoir website to see their clients. Their most famous is probably Lipsy and Nail Rock it'll be good to work for a company of which the brands interest me on a personal level.

Move over Barry

Now I am a massiv fan of Barry M Cheap, Chic and cheerful but as much as we all rave about it, becasue lets face it we do, it DOES chip after a day, and i've found the pastel colours need a good 4 layers and you need to leave a good hour for the whole application and drying process.

I've now moved on to Models Own, currently on offer in Boots 2 polishes for £8.00. I've applied two coats thursday evening and it is still looking fresh, no chips at all and i've been at work all weekend so its been fully hands on! My nail polish always chips but i may have finally found one that doesn't!!

Bridezilla and Missisippi Nightmare

As It Appears Not So Big Sis

In truth I don't actually like my sister that much but after years working in a bridal shop and with career aspirations to become a stylist it seemed only right I sorted out my little sis for her big day !! Honestly anyone would think she had got married ! When I had my prom 5 years ago being heavily into fashion I cared alot about the outfit but Zoe was Bridezilla everything had to be perfect.

We didn't think it would be when she appeared form her room 8.00 wednesday morning looking like Ross in the episode where he has the spray tan. Zoe so naturally pale looked like shed been rolling in doritos but thankfully by saturday and several showers later the tan looked lovely still darker than were used to but complimented the dress well.

She opted for a Mori Lee dress from a small boutique in Lichfield called Kiss XX, where they have a guarantee that no-one girl will turn up to the same prom in the same dress. I couldn't make it to help choose the dress but between her and my mum they did a good job.

I bought Zoe's bag from New Look at £12.99 I thought it was a bargain. This wasn't me trying to get off paying over the odds but I wouldn't have minded trauling French Connection, Dune and other branded stores this New Look one matched perfectly, and I believe had a touch of Zoe about it with the quirky bow design.

I wanted a ride in the Limo !!
She opted for a simple up do sleek and classy and not usually one to wear earrings the simple studs looked delicate against her hair style. She had a great evening and her and her friends all looked beautiful. I was requested by the bride herself to book the afternoon off work to help with make-up and nails, but thats what sisters are for ey.

All in all she had a great night and did look stunning personally I think I styled her well shes so lucky to have me hehehe !! And I was only joking before she's not that bad.... well maybe a little irritating but thats sisters for you !!

The NEXT step

So i've now experienced whats it's like to be a buyer of a major fashion retailer. Next was important for me as Its a brand that has developed from somewhere close to home it's a brand that has been worn and loved in my family home for years. I worked on the Branded fashion department along side the buying team. I learnt so much about the job both genrally about life as a buyer and more specifically to Next.

My first job was to research upcoming trends for S/S 2010 the Pre Collection.I leanr't all about Pre collections and the importance of them. I discovered 8 emerging trends and I had to present them to the buyers using a powerpoint.
My  8 Emerging Trends

My next task was to produce someclient boards to present to the managers the items bought for the upcoming seasons. My department was brands and so everything works a little differently because your not seeing a product designed it's more a case of selection.

I also spent a day in the studio whereabouts they shoot for the directory and the website. Again another informative day and everyone had so much time for me even though they were really busy and on srtrict deadlines. I was shown how to photograph underwear shoes and some clothing items. It is way more complicated than it looks when you see images on the website and on average thye only take 25 images a day !! Which doesn't seem like very many at all but infact 25 is pretty good. I was taken to post production whereabouts I was shown the editing process and I learn't different techniques in photoshop!! Here are a few of my edits experimenting with the cut out tools mirror image and lighting. Things like the bras have to be perfect when photogrpahed but because theyre photographed flat it's hard to get them equal and so in post production one half is flipped and mirror imaged.

I also got a chance to write some articles for the internet. The articles are published online so that search engines can pick up key words and direct people to the Next website. I had to use key words and try and fit them into an 'intersting' article that sounds quite genuine it was really challenging: see if you can spot the key words...
